Dr. Kassabian and most other dentists would agree: it’s always best to save your own teeth whenever possible. But sometimes, that’s just not feasible. If you are missing teeth, or have to have some or all of your teeth extracted for whatever reason, dentures are in many ways like a new lease on life! This is particularly true given the fact that today’s dentures look very much like normal teeth and are usually much more comfortable to wear than the old-fashioned type. Dr. Kassabian is pleased to offer dentures as one of the many services he provides to his Austin, TX area patients.

Are You a Good Candidate for Dentures?
There are several reasons why people lose teeth or need to have their teeth extracted. Whatever the reason may be – whether it’s due to gum disease, another malady, or as a result of medication or treatment for a disease – partial or full dentures are literally a life-changing choice for many people.
The Procedure Involved in Getting Dentures
If you need to have your teeth extracted prior to getting a new partial or full set of dentures, the procedure will involve many trips to our Austin, TX office. Dr. Kassabian will begin by making an impression of your existing teeth, then sending this impression to a dental lab where your dentures will be made.
Next, Dr. Kassabian will begin extracting your teeth a few at a time, allowing the gums to heal before extracting more teeth. We offer a variety of sedation techniques to make this process as comfortable as possible for our patients, and Dr. Kassabian provides a complete set of instructions that you can follow at home to make sure you heal as quickly as possible.
Once the extractions are completed, Dr. Kassabian will fit you with your new set of dentures or partials, making sure the fit is as snug and comfortable as possible. Dentures should last for many years, although they will probably need to be adjusted occasionally.
